our story
I’m Lior Halabi, the Co-founder & CEO, and concept creator of Israel Tech Week. I met Ayal Stern while he was the CEO of a successful startup in the U.S. Ayal moved to Miami with his family five years ago, and it was after I campaigned for Miami City Commissioner—my first campaign after living in Miami for 10 years—that we crossed paths. We immediately connected and shared a common vision. We both saw a significant gap and recognized the need to strengthen Miami's tech ecosystem, foster more meaningful connections, and support both the local and Israeli communities in the city.
Together, we launched the Miami_Israel Collective, a community platform that has become an essential bridge between Miami and Israel’s tech ecosystems. This collective has grown into a vital community, helping connect Israeli entrepreneurs, investors, and businesses with Miami’s burgeoning tech scene.
In recent years, Miami has transformed into the innovation capital of South Florida. The city has attracted entrepreneurs, investors, and tech professionals from around the globe, particularly after Miami Mayor Francis Suarez's tweet, which catalyzed significant migration from major tech hubs like Silicon Valley, New York, Boston, Austin, and Israel. With the influx of talent, Miami's tech landscape has become a hotbed for innovation.
The Miami_Israel Collective, now with over 2,000 members, plays a pivotal role in connecting Israeli and Jewish professionals in Miami. We facilitate networking, business collaboration, and international conference participation. Our platform offers Israeli startups valuable access to U.S. markets via Miami, while local entrepreneurs gain insights from Israel’s wealth of tech expertise.
In less than two years, we’ve organized and partnered on 18 events, with key initiatives like the Calcalist Tech & InvestConference, the IATI Mini Mixxii HealthTech Conference, and the successful Miami Tech Gateway event in Israel, which further solidified the bond between the two ecosystems. We are now thrilled to be launching Israel Tech Week in March 2025.
